FMetro also known as Foshan Metro (Chinese: 佛山地铁) is the metro system of the city of Foshan in Guangdong Province of China. It is operated by the state-owned Foshan Railway Investment Construction Group and partly by Guangzhou Metro Corporation and is the tenth metro system to be built in mainland China. Construction began in 2002 and the first line opened on 3rd of November 2010. The metro system has two new lines and one extensions under construction.[1]

Guangfo Line (lime - Line 1)

Line 1, also known as the Guangfo Metro, is an intercity line that connects Guangzhou and Foshan. The line is operated by Guangdong Guangfo Inter-City Co., Ltd., a subsidiary co-owned by Guangzhou Metro (51%) and FMetro (49%).[2][3] The first section of the line, from Xilang to Kuiqi Lu in Foshan, opened for operation in November 2010. The extension from Xilang to Lijiao will open in 2012.

Lines under construction and future expansions

Guangfo Line (Line 1)

The extension from Xilang to Lijiao will open in 2012. When the line is completed, it will have 32.2 km of tracks and 21 stations, of which 17.4 km of tracks and 10 stations will be located in Guangzhou.[3] The line will interchange with Line 1 at Xilang, Line 2 at Nanzhou, Line 3 at Lijiao, and Line 8 at Shayuan. It will run four-car trains.

Line 3

The first two phases of Line 3 are under construction and scheduled to be completed by 2016. Phase one will run from Nanzhuang to Guangzhou South Railway Station. The line will interchange will Line 1 (Guangfo Metro) at Kuiqi Lu.

Fares and tickets

Fares

There was a debate between Foshan and Guangzhou over fares of Guangfo metro. The debate has since been settled as Foshan accepted Guangzhou's fare proposal.[4] FMetro will give out 16,000 tickets for free once it begins to operate on November 2010.[5]
